Narayana Hrudayalaya starts Health City project in Ahmedabad

As a part of its expansion in major cities in India, Narayana Hrudayalaya has ratified an MoU with the Government of Gujarat to establish Narayana Health city with 5000-bed capacity in Ahmedabad. The promoter of the group of hospitals Devi Shetty said that it would be the longest hospital in Asia, as it’s being built on a 37-acre area in Bapunagar, Ahmedabad.

Narayana Hrudayala expends Rs 480-crore as an initial investment for this project and the 1000-bed cardiac hospital will kick off its functions by June 2010. Down the lane, the other specialties like cancer, kidney, neurosurgery and women & child welfare will be allocated 1000 beds each. This project also includes nursing college and paramedical training centers.

Dr. Devi Shetty, the chairman of Narayana Hrudayalaya said that the poor and economically backward sections would be assured of quality healthcare services at affordable prices and about 15000 outpatients are expected to receive the health services in a day. Narayana Group runs 16 hospitals in the cities like Hyderabad, Dharwad, Jaipur, Assam and Jamshedpur apart from the hospitals that are in Bangalore and Kolkata.
